Into August!

Cooler weather, crisp veggies, sweet berries

Our website will be stocked this evening at 6pm for pickup at Perkasie Farmers Market this Saturday.  Not all items included in this preview will be available for pre-order and we may have a few extra items at market.  As always, you’ll find all the good veggies and location info at wrockhill.com/shop.

The sweeter side

The blackberries continue to ripen and we’ll have a good supply this week to fulfill your snacking needs - or to bake into a perfect peach and berry galette.  Botanially, tomatoes are true berries (unlike the aforementioned blackberries) and their sweetness shows in our rainbow cherry tomatoes.  Roast these golden-toned fruits with garlic and toss with your favorite pasta for a fabulous summer supper.

Zukes, cukes and okra roll on

All the essential summer veggies are with us this week, ready for whatever recipes your weekend holds.  If you’re considering a quick kitchen project, look no further than pickling cucumbers for a delicious batch of refrigerator pickles.  Naturally, patty pan summer squash are a top pick for grilling, but they can also find their way into sweeter applications, in case you’re craving zucchini bread.  Of course we’re bringing more of both okra alongside both Asian and Italian Eggplant - with a reminder that a batch of baba ganoush can be whipped up right off the grill for excellent summer snacking.

Carrots, greens and garlic

Cooler weather has delighted our red Russian kale, rainbow Swiss chard and lacinato “dino” kale (as well as ourselves) and these leafy greens are all perfectly at home in any summer salad.  We’re digging another batch of carrots this week, as well as tender scallions.  Back again is garlic which has now had a week or two of curing, retaining still it’s mellower flavor and buttery texture - perfect for roasting alongside tomatoes or mincing into a bright salad dressing.  Green beans are entering their second and third flower this week and we’ll continue to pick these tender pods for quite a while more, as long as the weather allows.

Fresh cut herbs and flowers

For your table we’ll be bringing sunflower-rich fresh cut bouquets.  For your plate plenty of fresh cut herbs and a selection of our favorite microgreens.

Thank you for your support + feedback.

We appreciate your taking on this season with us and we look forward to seeing you at Market this weekend!

Stay well.

Regards,

Rosemary + Pete
