Spring sings farewell

the first sunflowers of the season mean it’s almost summer!

Spring favorites

This is likely our week for garlic scapes!  These bright green curlicues are the flowering stem of our garlic plants, trimmed to ensure the plant focuses on building up a robust bulb for harvest later.  These tender stems are great whipped into a pesto or sliced, sauteed or right off the grill.

Sugar snap peas are back again this week thanks to cooler weather.  Enjoy these crisp pods fresh with hummus or in a snappy saute.  Our stalwart scallions are along this week, joined by our final batch of hakurei turnips for the spring season.  Back, too, is kohlrabi, ready for roasting or shredding into a tart cole slaw.

Great Greens

Enjoy a kaleidoscope of rainbow Swiss chard in a colorful summer salad or give Russian kale its star turn in a salad with chickpeas and avocado.  Flat leaved Lacinato “dino” kale is a perfect choice for a summer Spaghetti Aglio e Olio.

Back again is our Summer salad blend, a mix of crisp red and green lettuce that’s perfect for topping with your top dressings.  Crisp green leaf lettuce is here, ready for salads, wraps and sandwiches, of course.

We’ll be bringing both edible flowers and microgreens to market, too -great for a finishing touch to any salad, sandwich or soup!

Sunflowers are starting

Our field flowers are beginning to arrive at last!  We will have limited bouquets listed for preorder as these crops get going.

Thank you for your support + feedback.

We appreciate your taking on this season with us and we look forward to seeing you at Market this weekend!

Stay well.

Regards,

Rosemary + Pete
