Preorders open early this week

great greens for Farmstand or Farm Market Pickups

Our website will be stocked this evening at 6pm for pickup at Perkasie Farmers Market this Saturday.  This week we are also offering Friday pickups at our Self-Serve Farmstand for folks who can’t make it to Market this Holiday Weekend.

Not all items included in this preview will be available for pre-order.  As always, you’ll find all the good greens and location info at wrockhill.com/shop.

Lots of lovely lettuce and leafy greens

In spite of the heat we’ve got a bevy of gorgeous greens this week whether you’re looking for a summer salad mix or some burger-ready green leaf lettuce.

Also great for fresh eating is red Russian kale, the most tender, mild member of the kale family and a favorite for salads and smoothies.  Lacinato “dino” kale is along, too, joined by rainbow Swiss chard - two favorites for speedy sautees and sensible sides.

Keep an eye out for fresh green cabbage this week as well - just in time for summer’s essential sides from cole slaw to grilled “steaks”.  On the smaller side of things, we’ve got microgreens and edible flowers for market, too; these little leaves pack a big flavor punch that’s perfect for dressing up a burger or blending into your favorite smoothie.

This week we’re delighted to be digging our first carrots as well as our second round of fresh potatoes.  If you’re still keeping the kitchen cool, give carrots a turn on the grill with a healthy dose of your favorite herbs.  Also perfect for grilling are pattypan summer squash which are due out this week along with our first green beans.

Fresh cut herbs and flowers

Sunflowers, snapdragons and dahlias are the centerpieces to our fresh cut bouquets this week.  Of course we’re bringing some tasty fresh herbs - cutting celery and basil.  Our new summer favorite, cutting celery, is a cousin to standard celery and the perfect accompaniment to many dishes from potato salad to coleslaw to soup.

Thank you for your support + feedback.

We appreciate your taking on this season with us and we look forward to seeing you at Market this weekend!

Stay well.

Regards,

Rosemary + Pete
